Specialist V, Information Technology (Service Desk)

Position Summary:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a candidate to support the University's central IT Service Desk. This position will work with a collaborative technical support team to provide top tier support through consulting and advising, problem identification and resolution, training and preparation with a customer-first attitude. A successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to develop and expand our online knowledgebase, develop and coordinate a variety of training media for campus constituents, mentor junior and student staff, and coordinate the use of new technology to support Service Desk processes. The professional in this position should be self-motivated, able to clearly communicate instructions and be a life-long learner.
Minimum Qualifications:
Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus four (4) years of experience in the support of IT tools and resources. Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience. Requires excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to describe complex IT support to non-technical constituents; Leadership skills needed. The budgeted salary range for Level V averages $65,000.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in MIS, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related degree and relevant experience.

  • Experience providing customer-facing information technology support.

  • Experience working with subject matter experts and professional colleagues in a team environment.

  • Experience with ServiceNow, knowledge management, and the ITIL framework.

  • Top tier written and interpersonal skills. Technical writing skills are a plus.

  • Familiarity with university organization, methods and procedures.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
